Our New Dyson!

So today I made a huge purchase--the Dyson DC15 The Ball Animal. While I only have one tiny little cat, she sheds. A ton. So I figured if I was going to splurge, I might as well do it all the way so that in the event we ever get any more pets, we will be covered in the vacuum department. Plus I am moving into my apartment next week and needed a vacuum. Raddy is currently trying it out and loved it so much that he is re-vacuuming his entire house as I type. As picky as he is, I know it must be good. The obsessive-compulsive side of me beamed when I saw the piles of dust accumulating in the canister from the one room I tried. While I doubt I will ever love to vacuum, the Dyson is definitely going to make it a little more enjoyable.

Engagement Pics!

So this weekend Raddy and I had our engagement pictures taken by our fabulous photographer, Amanda Little. We had them taken at IMA, which holds a special place in my heart for two reasons. One, I had an internship there for two years in high school which still ranks as the best job ever (think, working in the vaults of a huge museum!). Two, Raddy and I have visited several times with friends and on dates. Since I became a member last year, we have been several times to special exhibits, movies (my favorite!), and picnics on the beautiful grounds. I was worried about the weather, but God heard my prayers that morning. Amanda said that an overcast sky is actually better than direct sunlight, as it casts harsh shadows. We shot for about an hour, and it was cloudy without rain the whole time. We were going to go inside the museum, but the grounds were so beautiful that we stayed outside the whole time. I can't wait to get the shots! It should be about three weeks, so keep posted for those.

Here are the items on my to-do list for the next few weeks:
  • Choose florist (I have it narrowed down to two, just waiting for quotes)
  • Choose linens (I have the company picked, just trying to decide exactly what I need and in which colors)
  • Book bartender (we're having wine, but don't want guests to have to pour themselves all day)
  • Decide exactly what time the ceremony will be (is noon too late to start for a lunch reception???)
  • Finalize dates for showers (we are SO BLESSED to have so many caring friends and family--we feel so loved!)
  • Book block of hotel rooms for out of towners
  • Finalize guest list and get addresses
  • move to my apartment (already packing!)
  • write my 50 page comps paper for school (which is due on my birthday (May 20) which is the day after our four year anniversary. I REFUSE to ruin both of these by stressing over this paper, so I took the week between semesters off from all work (May 5-9) to get this done)
  • finish my dissertation proposal to be proposed in June
  • keep working out--lost 2.2lbs this week!

Please pray for my sanity as I try to get these things accomplished!

Hello!

I have decided to start a blog as a way to get all of my wedding obsessions out. Besides, I have been reading other blogs of brides-to-be so I figured I would join in fun!

I am getting married october 11, 2008 in Indianapolis. My fiance and I have been dating for four years, so I have been thinking about our wedding for quite some time. Now that the planning has begun, I realize how much work it really is. I am also realizing how much I really do like being in control of all aspects of the wedding. Seriously. I wanted to do everything myself (think DIY everything but the dresses), but my schedule has gotten in the way. I found the amazingApril of Blu Sky Designs to make my invitations and who is also going to be my day-of-coordinator (http://bluskydesigns.blogspot.com/), so I feel comfortable with that decision.

We are doing our engagement pictures this weekend at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, but of course it's supposed to be cold and rainy. I talked with my photographer today (http://web.mac.com/littleimages/iWeb/Little%20Images/Welcome.html), and we are still going to try to shoot indoors and outdoors. Hopefully this will work, as I need to get the save the dates out ASAP. Wish us luck! And thanks for reading!
